Advice needed: VP171B or DP930SB??

I need a new monitor. Highest priority is image quality; sharp text, great colors, artifact free. I don't care as much about the size/weight of the monitor and I'll spend the extra dough for a better quality image.

Unfortunately, there is a paucity of monitor reviews on the web, and none that I can find that directly compare current LCD's with CRT's.

On the LCD side, I've heard great things (on this forum and elsewhere) about the Viewsonic VP171B; on the CRT side, rumor has it that the Mitsubishi DP930SB is a nice monitor (I want black, which eliminates a lot of choices, eg the 900F).

So gang, what's the verdict? Where should I put my money?

Thanks!:beer::D

Hail,

With your rig I definitely would go with the Viewsonic LCD. You have top of the line components, might as well get a good LCD, too.

But that's just my thinking.

I've gone with the Viewsonic VP171B (Googlegear, $505 shipped). Keep hearing such good things about it, and all the Viewsonic LCD's I've seen have been pretty impressive.

Very nice!
Good luck with it!

I have a Viewsonic CRT and I am VERY happy with it.

Take it easy

WAIT!!!!!!!

I JUST purchased that same monitor from Dell for $465.25 shipped. There are online coupons for 10% off periphials and free shipping on $49 or more purchase, but the links to the coupons don't work. So I just called them and told them about it and they took my order over the phone and honored the coupons. It'll save ya $50, so why not?
