I just finished building my first system (ASUS A7N266 motherboard+Athalon XP2000+Antec case) - everything went pretty smoothly and I was very pleased.
But now a few days later I have a strange problem:
1) Power up the machine using the front panel power switch. OS loads, everything works fine.
2) Shut down the machine normally. Everything shuts down fine.
3) Press the power switch a second time - fans whir for a split second, and then system shuts down. Repeated presses of the power switch do nothing -- box just sits there.
4) The only way to restore the functionality of the power switch is to physically unplug the system from the wall for 3-5 minutes, after which I can repeat #1-3 above.
Does this sound like a problem with the power supply (I hope), with the case/power switch (big pain) or with the motherboard (ugh)?
(I did check and recheck all the little connections to the motherboard for the power switch, power LED, etc.)
Thanks!
