Advice needed on a few new parts!

Basically my motherboard is completely on the fritz. So I have the option of buying another athlon xp board....or just getting new stuff. I was gonna get the Athlon 64 3000+ Venice chip, but what motherboard should I get to go with it? I have an AGP Radeon 9600 PRO right now, so if I go with say nForce 4 I'll have to get a PCI-X card, but I havent read up on hardware in so long Im not even sure if a 600XT is better...or if a 700 is better than the XT...or if its even worth it and I should just stick with the card I have and get a nForce 3 board or something. Not looking to spend TOO much, but would like to get SATA support for non raided drives as well. Any advice is appreciated.

If you're on a budget, get a K8T800 based chipset for Athlon 64s. They were king until nVIDIA revised their nForce 3 chipset.

I would not recommend a VIA chipset, particularly since i had the one mentioned above & was not very happy with it.
Some people have good luck with it, but IMO they aren't the best.

EPoX EP-9NDA3J would be a good cheap nForce 3 AGP motherboard choice.
