Just redid my computer and decided to go with a micro-itx haswell setup. However, using my old video card from before, an AMD 7950 with a dual fan stock cooler.

Problem is, with the entire thing assembled, it's awfully loud. I've redone the system, and the system noise comes entirely from the video card (other parts in computer include an SSD and 3 noctua 120mm fans).

So I'm looking for a video card that has a cooler that makes less noise. Not going water, as I really don't have the time to invest in setting up and maintaining it.

I play mostly World of warcraft now, but do play FPS on occassion, so it doesn't have to be top of the line graphics. If it's also lower power draw, even better.

Thanks in advance.

While the GTX 970 is the upgrade many people are looking at coming from the 7950, it's not the right upgrade for you (at around $340). You're looking for a midrange card to play WoW and a bit of FPS. Plus, you want quiet, low power, and probably wouldn't mind smaller.

I'd suggest you wait for the release of the GTX 960 later this month. Should meet all your needs. Pricing isn't determined yet, so that may play a factor in whether it's worth buying. If it's not priced right, then yes, the 970 is your best option, but it's an expensive way to meet your goals. Unfortunately, there's nothing else on the market between a 7950 and a 970 that will do what you need.

Before anyone can give you any real advice without making assumptions, we need some more info.

You said you went itx, what case did you get?
You also indicated you do play some FPS, which ones?
Last, and most important, what is your budget?

I went with the haf 915f case.

Fps are the popular ones: cod and some battlefield.

Budget I guess is less of a problem, anywhere from $150 to $350 depending on capability.

The 960 looks like it will be 128bit, worth checking actual performance before buying.

A 970 with a custom cooler like MSI or even the Asus Strix which is more expensive but the fan stops completely when it's below 60c and is apparently hardly noticeable even when gaming.

You would have the space, the cash, and could take advantage of a GTX 970. I'd look into one of those, or as others have mentioned, wait for the GTX 960 to launch to see what it has to offer.
