ADVICE NEEDED: How to properly trim your facial hair

Geocentricity

Senior member
I let my facial hair grow like weeds in an abandoned garden, but it looks disgusting because its not trimmed neatly and uniform in length. I'm looking to trial-look a short trimmed look, not a full-blown ZZtop bush.

Is there a proper way to trim it with barber scissors or do I need an electric trimmer with those length adjuster clip-ons?

FYI: I'm Asian and have facial/chest/trail hair, so help this rare breed out, ATOT!

NOTE:
I just ran my cheap electric over my face this morning, I'll update with pics in a day or two as it grows back.

In about 2 days without shaving, it grew to around 0.35 - 0.45cm.

My growth pattern is as follows:
MS PAINT FTW

You don't absolutely require an electric trimmer, but it sure does make the job easier. If the facial hair is long enough, you can trim it with a beard comb and scissors, but that takes a long time.

Buy a ~$30 Wahl from Target (or anywhere else) and just use that. It only takes about a minute. Do that and then shave your neckline.

Beard trimmers are definately the way to go. Don't waste your money on a cheap one, either. They hurt (pull hairs) and just don't work that well. $25 is a minimum.

QFT.

I bought a rechargeable one with a set of guards. Beard gets a #3, neck get trimmed guard-less, then shaved with a razor.

I tried the clippers I use to shave my head on my face, but they're too unwieldy.

Lol, my beard doesn't even grow on parts of my chin and the side of my face. There's just bald spots in between my beard, so I just shave it all off 🙂
