Ok this is the deal:
I decided to upgrade my Athlon 850 to a 1,4 Ghz.
Went to my local store and bought the proc, 256MB DDR PC2100 ram and a Coolermaster cooler. All I needed was a good mainboard.
Now all they HAD was a ASUS A7A266 (with ALI chipset).
I bought it, but now i dont like it so much anymore so i called the store and they said i could trade it in for another of their mainboards.
They offer me 2 choices:
ASUS A7V266 ( via chipset)
ASUS A7M266 ( AMD 760 chipset)
On most sites (including toms hardware) they talk about AMD being top of the line.. but there are other testers who come up with information that i cant find anywhere on the big sites. Most interesting could be this:
With the AMD 760 chipset and the ALi MaGiK1 chipset the north- and south-bridge are connected through the PCI- bus. This means that the maximum datatransfer between the north- and the south-bridge is 133 MB/s . With the VIA KT266 chipset there is a special, faster connection between the north- and the south-bridge, known under the name of V-Link. V-Link has a troughput of 266 MB/s and also an extra advantage is that the data communication doesnt stop when the PCI bus is being used to transmit other data through the mainboard.The communication bwtween the north- and south-bridge is ALOT better at VIA thus alot more efficient.
So hardware masters out there:
