Question Advice is required: upgrade from Samsung 970 Pro

Hello,

Could you please help me to find a good upgrade option for the current using Samsung 970 pro?
It is required to increase capacity from 512 (Samsung 970 pro) to 1 TB at least.
I am concerned about new Samsun models due to: TLC memory type instead of MLC, firmware issues and fake drives.

The replacement will be done in Lenovo Yoga 920 laptop with PCIe 3.0 x4. The laptop has some battery issue: Windows booted at a low battery level (for example the laptop was not used for a while) and then the laptop gets powered off by itself without Windows power-off mechanism - so-called hard shutdown - therefore data safety is a priority.

Thank you in advance!

MLC consumer drives don't really exist anymore, the 970 Pro was the last.

Since it sounds like your laptop is probably PCI-e 3.0, the choice drive for laptops is the Hynix P31 Gold. Best power efficiency of any PCI-e 3.0 M.2 drive hands down.

That's a terrible value for 1TB in 2023. Sounds like you should replace the laptop battery while you're at it.

If you are concerned about reliability, the 2TB 970 EVO Plus has the same warranty and endurance rating as the 970 Pro (5yr/1200TB). They are ~$140 in the US. I have 970 in 2 of my desktops, haven't had any issues.
