Hey guys. I'm looking for two tape backup drives for a buddy of mine. Each needs to be approximately 2 to 3 GB (he's not asking for much). What do you suggest?

Many thanks :)

Very interesting idea. I never really thought of that. However, the size of a tape is much more convenient. Any other suggestions? Thanks much guys :)

Some backup tapes is about 1/4 of a hdd & removable drive bay, but tape backup is 25~30X slower than to day ATA66/7200rpm drives.

I I bought 5 drive bays for about $100USD and uses ATA33 & ATA66 drive in them as backup device, and they take up about as much space as some of the older backup tapes.

A good way to backup your stuffs is having 2 hdds and using mirroring method, or 2 hdds & 2 IDE controller cards for duplexing.

And, for $200USD you can get 2x15~20gig ATA66/7200rpm hdds which will be cheaper than the tape drive & 2 tapes.
