if the lcd is cracked or broken how much would it cost to get it replaced or is it something that the warranty would cover?
 
Definitely not something the warranty would cover unless it magically cracked out of nowhere, and even then that's sketchy. I would guestimate depending on the model laptop, 300-600 for just the panel, then labor. Your best bet would be to call Apple, and get in touch with a PowerBook (or iBook) specialist and see what they say.
