Hi All,
I have installed two separate routers at my mom's flowershop--a D-Link DI-624 & a Linksys WRK54G. I replaced the DLink with the Linksys a few years ago and it's proved to be pretty reliable.
However, the Linksys will occasionally lockup and have to be reset periodically. While this is annoying, it's not too big of a deal during the day as someone is there to reset it. However at night, if that happens my mom's flower orders don't go through and so she loses orders until someone can reset the router and restore internet connection.
I do not run anything like bittorent at night, just my mom's flowershop PC (a Compaq P3) that runs the FTD mercury software. Anyway, I'm willing to buy a new and better/more expensive router if that is what it takes. I just want some suggestions. I'm also thinking of converting an old Pentium or 486 into a linux router. For those with experience in that, do you think it would be more reliable?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
