Hello students (high school, college, whatever). I'm trying to put together a website to help high school/college students learn United States History and Government. The site would focus on High School AP and above levels. I want to know how you think it is easiest to absorb information from an online site. When I took AP American, there were constantly things I had to look up outside my text book. I would go on google, searching from site to site, not always finding what I needed. It would of been nice to have one concise site. I did find a great site that had a comprehensive overview of American history, but it was so hard to ever search for anything. Plus, since it was basically in a very long essay format, studying from it wasn't the best. Then I found a site that was so detailed, great information, except it had nothing relevant to what would ever be on a test.
Here is what I was thinking.
>A searchable directory where you can look up whatever. People, places, bills, rulings, etc. These would be presented in a short bullet point format followed by a few paragraphs. Obviously, topics like the Civil War would not be summed up in two paragraphs. More specific: Wilmost Provisio, Intolerable Acts, the Lusitania, etc etc. Each topic would have links in site or out of site to additional information. For example, two para's on Lexington and Concord with links to casualty statistics, art, etc. Summary of The Federalist Papers and their importance with links to the actual text of the papers.
>Bullet point overviews of chapters. A couple pages of bullet points on The Age of Jackson for example.
>A few para bio's of each president followed by the key events of their presidency.
>Timelines.
>Easy to print format so students can take it on the run.
Any other ideas?? Thanks
-Phil
