Advice about storage - Western Digital My Book Pro II

Western Digital My Book Pro II WDG2TP10000N 1TB 7200 RPM USB 2.0 / IEEE 1394a / 1394b External Hard Drive - Retail

Anyone have any experience with this drive? My girlfriend and I are looking for some solid storage after her maxtor external started making loud noises... It looks pretty good with a built in RAID setup.

And does anyone know about the firmware that's supposed to get rid of the loud noise that everyone is complaining about?

To answer my own question, the firmware does keep the noise level a lot lower.
