Hey guys, I've been working a lot recently and haven't really had time to follow up with whats better/etc. So I would really love some help, here's what I got so far. Keep in mind I live in Puerto Rico and not every company out there ships here, I usually order from Newegg but I'm open to order from any other as long as they ship here.

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.

- Gaming, I play Aion and already pre-ordered SC2

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread

~$700-800

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.

Puerto Rico

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc.

For CPU - Intel. No preference for other parts

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.

Monitor - 24", Case - antec 900, GPU - XFX 4870(will upgrade later on), OS - Win7(dont need to buy it), HD - WD sata 160 gb(but would love to buy a SSD for OS)

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.

Yes

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

Default

8. What resolution YOU plan on gaming with.

-1980x1080

9. WHEN do you plan to build it?

Next week hopefully.

This is what I had in mind from what I've been reading.

ASUS P7P55 LX LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL

Intel Core i5-750 Lynnfield 2.66GHz 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Processor

Thanks for any help or suggestion!

That build looks fine. Judging by your taste in games (MMO and RTS), a 4890 should keep you going for a while. If you care about USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb/s, the GA-P55-UD3 is only about $13 more than the P7P55 LX. The GA-P55-USB3 gets you USB 3.0 but no SATA 6Gb/s at the same price as the ASUS.

You're at $430 with CPU/Mobo/RAM, so an 80GB X25-M @ $225 is definitely doable with your budget.

You may be able to reuse your current PSU, so tell us what brand/model it is. If you can't, the Corsair TX650 @ $90 is a good bet.

To recap:
CPU/Mobo/RAM = $430
SSD = $225
PSU (if necessary) = $90
Total = $745
Right in the middle of your budget. 🙂

Thanks mfenn. I got a Thermaltake 480w PSU but it's pretty old so I think I should pick up a new one as well.
