I thought this might be a good deal but I can't find anything about Advent TV's. I'm wondering if it's a Samsung rebadge or what. Use the link or search for Advent.
I'm looking for a decent 27" under $400 and there aren't many to choose from. Neil

you sure? i have a akai rebadged samsung 27" from sam's club. the akai and samsung are identical except for color and brand marking. this advent's buttons up front are different from the akai/samsung, the location of the front a/v inputs are different, and the remote is very different.

anyone can confirm this is a samsung?

All I know is that I can't find any information about it on the web. Look at the BB product detail, does it seem similar to Samsung? And if it's not, then whose tube is it? The're aren't that many 27" flat tube makers. Neil

It looks very similar to the Akai (I have one) in the ad, but I haven't seen one in person yet. if it's the same, I might pick up another one to replace my 20" Aiwa in the bedroom.

About a month ago, Fry's had the 27" Samsung for $350.

BTW, I search the entire WEB and I still can't find Advent website for this TV.

There are no Fry's in Florida and I'd rather not join Sam's just for the Akai. I don't even know if the have any in the stores to check out in person. According to their WS, I can order one for delivery on 9/3, but no store pickup is offered  ? I am still hoping for someone else who has one to post more details.

I've always thought Advent was a manufacturer of high-end consumer audio equipment, but this is the first television I've seen from them.

Edit: Anyone know if a VGA to Component adapter exists?

Just thought I'd let you guys know it's not a Samsung. I know who makes it but I can't really say who right now. It's not Samsung though that's all I'll say.

These TV's have very good quality for their price. Real heavy if you like that sort of thing.

It weighs 89 lbs., but I want to know the H. resolution and if it has features like picture squeeze. if you know who makes it, why can't you tell? Have you signed a NDA or something? :Q

I am also looking for a 27 inch Flat screen under $400. So, i checked out the Advent at my local BB. IT SUCKED!! I tried to tweak it with the remote and still sucked. Maybe that display model was burnt out, but the clarity sucked. I would go with the AKAI - BTW, it has no squeezing 16:9 mode like the AKAI.
