advantages of headphone jack on top of mp3 player?

With the jack on the bottom of a mp3 player, you can navigate in your pocket easier, but why do reviewers always complain about the jack being on the bottom?

Top/bottom really makes no diff for in pocket nav, the ones that are on the side are the ones that are annoying

Like Anubis said, top or bottom really depends on which way you stuff it in your pocket. Even on the side, they can be top or bottom depending on the shape.

Along with that - do you prefer a straight in headphone plug or a right angle one?

Right angle, top or bottom. The side ones are such a pain, especially with straight jacks.
