Advantages of having Digital interface in speakers

Hi Guys,

Please tell me what advantages are there for speakers having digital interface(spdif) over ones having analog one ?
Is it justified to pay extra for digital ?

Regards,

The advantage of digital data transmission compared to analogue is that the former is noise tolerant. Analogue aux cables are not heavily shielded and therefore prone to EM noise by nearby electrical components.

Personally though I have never experienced a digital speaker therefore I cannot offer constructive comment.

However I can only notice slight sizzling noise when I crank up the volum of my speaker due to the amplification of noise. It is not noticable at normal volumn level. With audio signals being much stronger than random noise its unlikely to notice noise even at higher volum anyway since they will just be overshadowed by audio data.

^^Couldn't that be an specific issue with your speaker's only ?
I've got Creative Inspire t6060 currently, but don't hear any such sounds at max volume...
Though i think u'r right about digital being more noise tolerant....that's the basic advantage any digital transmission..
