Right now I'm currently using a 900Mhz GE cordless phone w/ built-in answering machine. Has worked great for 5 years, but now that I'm gettin' VOIP, I don't necessarily need answering machine plus the current phone matches kitchen (white) and now phone will need to be by/near router & family room's brown/green/wood & maybe lookin' to update.

I know that 2.4Ghz can/does interfere w/ wireless routers so I'm thinkin' that pretty much leaves 2 options.....

#1.) Keep the 900Mhz GE & just deal w/ color (or find a way to weave a wire back to kitchen)??

#2.) Go w/ 5.8Ghz because it's so much better, there's just no comparison??

And as such.......your advice taken worth its weight in gold! (Sound like I'm on the right track).

Any voice quality advantages of 5.8Ghz vs. 900Mhz???

Or background noise advantages, things like that??

OH..........I know what I wanted to ask............

With all these "multiple handset" phone systems I see for sale everywhere (Costco, etc.)........does that mean that only one of 'em has to be hooked up to the phone line and that the other handsets can be put anywhere???? (i.e. Each individual base needs to be hooked up to an A/C outlet, but doesn't need a phone line as the 'base' phone will tell the others to ring).

???

Well, if you are the paranoid type and you live in a crowded area, there's a better chance of having someone listening in on your phone conversations if you are a 900mhz phone.

Yup, they are really nice that way. We replaced all ours with the AT&T one from Sams.
