Advanced: Tape loader library, PowerVault 122T

Hi, one of my clients have a PV 122T tape library that has had multiple problems, the most recent being whenever I try to clean the drive it says invalad tape, spits it back out, and the cycle continues. (same thing happens with a PV 110T standalone drive I have)

From reading I would assume it is because its not the right type of cleaning tape, but as we are under a time crunch we wont be able to get a cleaning tape in time.

Now here comes the fun part, my supervisor works on these things all the time, and suggested that I need to reset the bit that says that the drive is dirty, and do it by reflashing the firmware, which I cannot find. Will a firmware update (even with the same version) clear the cleaning light that will allow us to continue to read tapes until a cleaning tape arrives? (yes a workaround is what I am looking for.)

The drive would have been replaced, except that we only have drives for older PV models laying around.

ammend: no manual cleaning does not work, as it refuses to read ANY tape when it says it needs a cleaning tape, and dell wont touch it as it wasnt purchased in the US

hope posting here is better on dell's forums... >.<

There plenty of commerical Techs on AT.

You stated that you were under a time crunch, plus
it seems you are trying to validate what your supervisor
alreadys knows ("since he works on them all the time").

Listen to your supervisor. It will work. Just make sure there
are no hiccups when Flashing or you will be needing a NEW drive,
and that there are no additional error codes.

doh' guess i should start listening to myself, lol

my boss is one of those people that wants people to find out solutions out on their own, (are tech forums cheating? lol) as we are a "solutions provider"

my current roadblock is that the util to flash it cant see any devices installed, which it isnt yet, but if i have problems with that ill hollar back.
