Hope someone can help me. I just installed a couple of Dell laptops for 2 of the VP's in my company. They came preinstalled with XP and we installed Office and Outlook 2000 on them. When they try using the Advanced Find function to search through emails, searching for a word in the subject line, it just searches and searches indefinitely. Anybody have any ideas on how to get it to work, or should I just reinstall Outlook <sigh>??

Thanks!

Searching the newsgroups showed a bunch of people are complaining about that problem but there were very few solutions mentioned.

I found one post from someone who said SP3 was the problem, and he posted this:

i have fixed my problem to my satisfaction as follows:

1) uninstall Office 2000

2) run erasecd2 (an MS ditty) to remove all leftovers

3) install Office 2000 + sr1a + sp2

voila, everything is fine and all my corrupted .pst file work just find with Advanced Find. i'm not gonna touch sp3 if and until MS admits that they fscked up and fixes it.

somewhat similar to you, my Advanced Find would work once per execution of Outlook and then fail thereafter.

You're talking about sr1a and sp2 for Office, as opposed to Windows, right?

thanks!
