I was wondering what the difference is between these two 4400+ processors? both are socket 939 an both come with the factory heatsink, but the ADA is $10 more than the ADV. does the $10 differerence is price make any appreciable difference in quality or oerclockability?

The difference is in the stepping. Some steppings overclock higher than others. But, always go with the newest stepping. With the 4400's, I'm not sure of the difference, though.

so is the newer, more power efficient 4400+ going to be better at stock speeds, or will it just overclock better? I don't really understand what the performance difference will be.

i haven't seen any oc results for the new high efficiency x2s (they are still pretty new), but theoretically the performance is be identical at stock speeds. the difference is that the ADV (89W) chip will consume less energy (and thus produce less heat) for the same performance. that SHOULD make them better overclockers, but again, I haven't seen any test results yet.

The AV is most likely the new DSL silicon that AMD uses in the AM2 cpu's. In theory, they should give you a higher oc than the previous s939 silicon.

ADV are not the high efficiency processors. the EE processors are ADO.

ZZF has 2 listings for the 4400+, one for the ADA and one for the ADV. the ONLY two listed differences between the two processors are the TDP (110W for ADA and 89W for ADV) and the maximum operating temp (65C for the ADA and 71C for the ADV). Maybe ZZF is not accurate, but it sure seems to me like the ADV SKU is for the high efficieny models, at least for the 4400+.

Ok, it looks like ADO is the 65W EE AM2 processors. ADV is the 89W s939 4400+. AMDs data sheets still only list ADA, so this is all speculation on my part, but that would make sense...
