For $750, I'd expect to play with a crane or a wreaking ball :awe:

I think those would be much more expensive considering the damage that could be done. $750 won't fix much if you wrap that wrecking ball around the boom of the crane...or drop it in your lap.

Interesting... Just remembered that I have an open invitation with a coworker to let me drive around the bulldozer thing (mid-point articulation with a raisable shovel thing).

Sounds like it would be fun. I've always wanted to operate one of those machines. A little out of my price range though.

Sounds like fun, but yeah way too pricy. Even taking into account liability and all that nonsense, if it's setup in a controlled environment where nothing can really get broken, I don't see why it's that expensive. I could see maybe 200 bucks but 750 bucks seems like way too much for a 15 minutes of playing around with machines.

For less money you can go rent one for 8 hours, though you'll need to find a spot where you can go play with it. Been debating on renting one actually. Might go the DIY route to fix my house's foundation. Cheaper, but a bit more risky.

the obvious place to use it is in the middle of a big empty field. build a gigantic earth mound during the night and claim it was aliens.

Fun fun. I thought of it, given I only have 5 feet to go, it's not a very deep basement. But then I thought of it further. It's all hard clay, there's lot of roots, and it was too freaking hot this year. I said screw it.

Though if I get it done by a pro it's 13k, if I rent the equipment and do it myself, I figure maybe 5-6k (rental, materials, etc). Tough choice. I really need to start making more money through adsense. 100 bucks a month aint going to cut it.
