ADUL mentioned in Front Page Article

I clicked a link on the front page about bandwidth caps and found that ADUL was credited with bringing this up in the forums.

Here is the link.

I was very concerned when I read the article (read c/net's full article for lots more info) that my SetiQueue might run up my numbers if Comcast (former ATTBI user) were to impose the cap. I did some quick math and found that 100 WU per day with 70% staying on the LAN and 30% being redistributed would equate to a total of 1.1GB of bandwidth per month. The cap imposed by Bell Canada was 10GB, so I would only be using 11% for SETI. But, I may not check the TeAm listing as often! :frown:

The Major ISP's are already implenting the Caps, they are being forced to by the RIAA/MPAA and the DOJ. The RIAA/MPAA/DOJ Team is also handing out bills to the biggest offenders of file swapping. One guy got a bill for over $13,000 for the Software and files they saw on his hard drive that was being shared via Kaaza.

Your uploads are also being screened, as soon as a "Copyrighted" file is seen by the screening software the port feeding your computer will gate down to an incredibly slow speed and all activity stored for possible futire prosecution. It is all part of Echelon, Carnivore or any other code name you want to name the projects.

All eventually leading to the Boston PC party.

Any band width limit would force me to shut down my Q here🙁

WU flow in the last 14 days: 14973 WUs total (= 5,106.99 MByte)

As you can see I am one of those bandwidth hogs, but for a good cause ( I think) and would exceed a 10GB limit in no time🙁

That blows! If I had broadband I would be pissed!

I don't think I could even use 1.1gb of bandwith on dial up in a month.
