ADT Home Security Question

We just moved into our new house 3 weeks ago and had ADT come by and give us a quote, we got a good deal so we decided to go for it. One of the requirements that they insist on is having a phone line for the wireless security system that they're going to be installing. My local phone company will be installing service in our area next week but I was wondering if anyone knows whether ADT would function via a digital phone line? I keep seeing Vonage ads and their rates are a lot better than our local phone company.

Does anyone have ADT working off their Vonage digital phone line?

why don't you call ADT and ask? I'm sure it's a VERY common question for ADT, and there's only a 1% chance that you will get any responses here that are not useless conjecture.

I'm looking through their FAQs right now, was on hold for too long so I hung up on Customer Service. I'll try calling back in a while. Thanks.

Why would you want to take the risk in the 1st place. If that vonage router does out, so does your home alarm system. Bad decision to save a few bucks on.

why don't criminals with a half a clue just cut the phone line before breaking in?

Because the secondary underground link that they cannot see still works. The cellular and satellite phones backing this up still work too and when a calling occurs using the backup methods it gets instant priority - no call to house for password. Send all you got.

Besides the homeowner's insurance discount, is a home security system really worth it?

It's not only the peace of mind you're buying, but if you ever end up needing it, but didn't have it and something happens, you'll regret it

Don't know if ADT does what Brink's does, but check this out just to be sure your contract isn't worded the same way.

I read the contract pretty thoroughly, but that scared me enough to go back and read it once more tonight after work. Thanks for the heads up.

if they have a backup, then why does he need a phone line?

Like AgaBoogaBoo said, it's for peace of mind mostly, my pregnant wife, her younger sister and her mother will be home alone while I'm off at work 16 hours (including commute) out of the day. I want them to feel safe while I'm away.
