ADSL + 2nd NIC = need help!

I have two PCs networked directly with no hubs. That worked fine until I installed a 2nd NIC for my new ADSL connection. Now, it takes much, much longer to see the files on the other PC .

Please help.

I'm running Win2000 on both PCs and the ADSL connection uses PPPoE EnterNet client.

NIC 1 on Server:
Realtek RTL8029 - 10Mbits
TCP/IP: "Obtain address automatically" + "Obtain DNS Server automatically"

NIC 2 on Server:
Realtek RTL8139 - 100Mbits
File and Printer Sharing
TCP/IP: IP address: 192.168.0.1, Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

NIC on Client:
Realtek RTL8139 - 100Mbits
File and Printer Sharing
TCP/IP: IP address: 192.168.0.2, Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1

Trying to share the ADSL connection too...

Try removing all the protocals that aren't necessary. Then make sure the bind the protocals to the proper NIC. For example, the only protocal your NIC that connects to the ADSL needs is TCP/IP, not MS file sharing, netbuei, etc. This will make your network safer too.
