Ads causing page to resize.

current ads cause the page to resize 3-4 times, very frustrating. Happens every time on a new page/thread/etc. It's so frustrating it makes me want to not visit anything on here.

Thank you for posting this, it's extremely frustrating. Using Firefox with Windows 10 here. Your username is so appropriate and awesome!

It drove me bonkers so I finally installed uBlock Origin which seems to have fixed it, until something else breaks.

Right now it is horrible. Page starts to load with small ad space at top, then everything drops to allow more space for ad, then it all drops again to provide a space MUCH larger than the ad will be, then it snaps back up to the #2 position again, then the ad loads. And should you be viewing a post and reload the page it jumps 4 times. Just horrible.

You should make it so ONLY GUESTS see ads,not logged in members.. Thats how city-data has it and it works well for them..

The worst part , is if you stopped in at AnandTech.com , and then try to click on the forums button , it'll resize and then you are headed to whatever damn ad it was.

I don't normally run Adblockers , but I might for here.

:\

I no longer get the jumping. I do get these though.

What's really annoying today is that on every AT forum page I see shawad.js from p...tic.com request to download. Fortunately not real malware but definetely not something
to be shown on such an advanced tech site.
So, have to read via Firefox with NoScript, RequestPolicy and AdBlockPlus protection.

I'm having the text from the adds in huge bold letters overlay the forum, like halfway down the page at times. They seem clickable as well. Using Chrome, no extensions or anything.

Sorry it took so long for me to notice this thread.

We do what we can to address issues with ads as they appear. If an ad is causing issues with your browsing experience, please get a screenshot of it and let us know, along with the URL where you encountered it.

In the interim, if those ads with the oversized bolded text is still an issue, I'll send it up the chain and get it taken care of--however, they don't seem to be showing up on my end. If you're still seeing it, please grab a screenshot and report back!

Why dont you guys do what I suggested....... City-data DOES NOT SHOW ADS TO MEMBERS,why dont you guys try it??

It wont hurt anything...... They still get alot of revenue from the guest group seeing ads.....

Wouldn't it be possible to have a paid level of membership (something reasonable of course) and not have to see any ads? They really screw with my browser and the jumps are causing miss-clicks onto ads or links I didn't want. It's only a matter of time before it frustrates me beyond repair.
How much does Anandtech make off of me having to view the ads? I'm sure there is a formula based on headcount or visits to calculate how much the site makes. Let's come to a cash arrangement...

I've been saying this for a while. There are other ways the site can monetize the forums, as well (affiliate codes, a store with merchandise, etc). The ads aren't just a nuisance, they can be vectors for malware (plenty of past and current threads on this).

I would much rather directly contribute. I don't like ads.
