Adopted a 11 month old German Shepherd today...*Updated pic*

I noticed she has been abit snippy today. Not violent, but just likes to bite lightly (bit my nose and my wifes forehead and our hands). She also tends to lightly bite my dog baileys snout if he sniffs her alittle too much. It doesn't seem to be anger bites, cause she doesn't growl or show her teeth prior, and they are light bites (but still slightly hurts).

Is this behavior common of a 11 month old german shepherd, or should it be telling me that she has a temperment problem. Im just concerned about how she will be with children, and of course if she will attack my other dog when they are alone. If this is the case, im sure there is some kind of treatment for it. If anyone knows or can lend some advice on this behavior I would appreciate it. Thanks again.

Kick ass man. About ten years ago we took in a stray German Shepherd puppy. Just a few months old, yet HUGE. She was a great dog, unfortunately since we have cats and my mom is allergic to dogs we had to get rid of her. That sucked so much. I had wanted a dog for the longest time and finally had one. Eventhough we only had her a couple weeks I was so sad to see her go. Still miss that dog too. You're a great guy for taking her in man. Kudos to you. 🙂

cassie was that way when we first got her too. she's probably never been taught not to do that. some time and patience will cure her of that habit. but dont wait to address it, as it will be harder to break her of it later.

Ah phew. Thanks for the reply, you took alot of worry away. Hopefully she gets over it soon, but its nice to know its not a permanent thing.

I remember when I was little we had a German Shepard. One of the few memories I have was trying to feed the dog some grass off the lawn. 🙂

Good luck with your new doggie.

This kind of thing sickens me, it is an animal, you know how many of your fellow humans are starving?

Really??? And how much have *you* donated to *any* humane cause?? Donate blood? Work in a soup kitchen?? You can leave now.

To SilentZero,
Can I paypal you a few bucks toward the dogs operation?? It is awesome what you are doing. German Shepherd > any other breed.

what if the dog was ugly?

😉

oh, btw, does anyone think it has a big head? 😕

I give blood and I am in the Airforce ROTC at LSU and I will graduate a 2nd Lt. next winter.

I will do more for people and our country than you ever will, so get off my case.

It's rediculous to spend 8,000 dollars on a dog, that could feed many homeless children.
I hope when you play with your dog you picture a dead kid floating in a ditch.

I hope they work on spelling in officer school. Furthermore, what he does with his money is his business. You imply that he is *starving* people by making this humane decision. That is bullsh!t.

you people who want to paypal money to this guy should consider donating to the peacecorp instead.

If you place a dog's life ahead of a human's, then you seriously have some problems.

Personal attacks do nothing but detract from your argument.

Being an asshole doesn't add anything to yours either. Try keeping your stupid remarks to yourself.

How come you want to start an arguement over something like this? But I will try to end it.
Its nice that you give blood and your in the Airforce ROTC. However the fact that you will do more for people and our country that anyone else is far from the truth.

I am a disabled veteren of the Army. I served over 6 years on active duty in the army, of which I spend 5 of those years outside of the US and in places that had more suffering and death then you could read about in a ROTC class at LSU. I highly doubt you will do more to serve the country than I myself or the hundreds of thousands of other veterans and soldiers/sailors/marines have done or are doing right now for this country. You don't need to put others down to get your arguement across.

You believe its stupid to spend $8,500 on a dog, well your entitled to your opinion. I admire your devotion to our nations homeless problem, but neglecting suffering animals or claiming them worthless is just wrong IMO. I personally have no reservations about spending that kind of money to save the life of a dog, and at the same time I can sleep well at night knowing I am doing the right thing.

As far as donations....I do appreciate all of you who have offered. It is nice to see so many people who are willing to help. I have a paypal account set up already, but for the moment Im going to use up all my resources before accepting donations. Thank you all again for your kindness and input on Sashas situation. And to ThunderbirdElitist, I understand and respect your opinion about our nations homeless children problem, and best of luck in the AF.
