Don't download files into Program Files, put it somewhere else and just run the installer.

But yes, you need admin rights to write to Program Files.

The version of Windows that you're using might be helpful, but adding yourself to the local Administrators group is usually good enough.

And I'm not saying don't install anything to Program Files, that's fine and makes sense. But you said download, which isn't the same as install.

Did you disable UAC? Because it should've prompted you and let you in when you did the installation.

I was asking if you disabled UAC because if you did then it might cause a similar problem so you should leave it enabled.

Dont do this. Leave UAC on, its one of your best protections against malware. You DONT NEED admin rights all the time you dont want them all the time. The base problem here seems to be you wanted to download the INSTALLER to the program files directory. Installed programs go there, not their installer. Just download it to the download (or other document directory) and run it from there.
