Adobe Premiere stops capturing if you click outside the window? Help?

the lab that i work in is in the process of digitizing all of our VHS tapes. we're using adobe premiere 6.5. however there is a rather annoying quirk. whenever we're capturing video, if we click out of the window, the capture stops. is there a setting we could change so we can still use the computer while we're importing? its about 2 hrs a tape so the computer is out of commission for this time. thanks!
