I was wondering if anyone had issues with Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0

I just installed it and it's taking very long when I switch between commands and zooming. I checked the minimum requirements and here they are:
* Intel® Pentium® 4 or Intel Celeron® (or compatible) 1.3GHz processor (dual-core processors and those with Hyper-Threading Technology supported)
* Microsoft® Windows Vista? (32-bit only), Windows® XP, or Windows Media Center Edition (XP and MCE require Service Pack 2)
* Windows XP: 256MB of RAM (512MB recommended)
* Windows Vista: 512MB of RAM (1GB recommended)
* 1.5GB of available hard-disk space
* Color monitor with 16-bit color video card
* 1,024x768 monitor resolution at 96dpi or less
* Display driver compatible with Microsoft DirectX 9 or later
* CD-ROM drive

I have an Intel Pentium 4 2.8Ghz CPU, 1GB DDR RAM with WinXP and an ATI 9700 pro video card. Both video card and WinXP are updated to latest drivers/updates. The photos I am retouching are roughly 2mb files.

What can I do to speed this up? OR see what is taking so long. I have also tried to shut down all running programs and it still takes long.....

Check your paging file; make it bigger, if it is less than 1-2gb. (best to keep it on a separate volume/partition). Defragment. Check residents/sys log for conflicts. If nothing helps ?reinstall it.

I've been told that having your paging file for adobe on a seperate drive also helps.

Thanks for the help. I moved my paging file to my D: drive and it helped tremendously. I followed these instructions:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307886

I wasn't sure if I could just set the paging file for adobe on the D: drive. Is there a way??
Hopefully I did it correctly

Thanks Again - This site is the best!!!!!
