Anyone know if there is an easy way to change a document built with paths in illustrator to lines (IE line art)?
I'm going nuts here! :(

Paths in Illustrator ARE lines, so either you have no idea what you're talking about, or I don't.

I need the input to work on a plotter, and I am working with a guy who needs to use it for such, but he tells me that since it is made out of paths and not lines, it's not going thru Corel drwa and ultimately to the plotter correctly... I'm not as versed in the finer points of illustrator as I should be, so that's why this confuses me so much. heheh... what do you think?

A "path" in Illustrator is a line. It is composed of points connected by straight or curved segments.

Maybe by "lines" the guy you're workin with means "straight lines"? I dunno, maybe corel draw jsut doesn't import illustrator files correctly?

Try saving it as eps rather than illustrator? That tends to be a more compatible format.

If what he needs is straight lines, in illustrator if you go to the option simplify paths, I think there is an option not to have any curves.

Hmmm... thank you for all the help, I think you may have solved this problem for me! I thought paths were the same too! I think I have pieced enough info together to give this guy some feed back... and I'm glad that I dont have to remake the file!!!
