I am trying to follow the steps on this tutorial with no success. When I get to step 6 I cannot get Illustrator to subtract the letter from the blend I created in step 1. Any help would be appreciated, this is getting very annoying!

I have been playing around with this and I think I figured out where my problem lies. When I create the blend between my two paths the lines that Illustrator generates for me are not paths. So, when I try to subtract the letter's path from my blend there is nothing to subtract from. How can I use the blend to actually generate paths???
