Chrome also released a stable channel update today so that's likely to include the new Flash version as well.

And just in case anyone is curious Chrome can update Flash on its own without updating the browser. You can tell when this happens because it'll start using a Flash from your Users directory instead of the one from the Chrome install directory (visible from the Flash plugin directory at chrome://plugins).

Interesting. Does it automatically update flash on its own without browser update or is that a setting you have to change?

Flash even on XP or Win10 can be set to Update Automatically. And on Win10 since it uses IE11 Flash is built in to that browser, and as such, it gets updated by Windows Update (for IE only) .. Downside is that IE11 does not get the update as fast as Adobe releases it and if you do set Flash to update automatically, I do not know if you can then save the Setup File or if it is just a Stub Installer to setup the update. Plus I do not know what happens if it decides to update when the browser is in use. Will it kick you out or wait for you to restart the browser ?

AFAIK, if an automatic update happens while you have the browser open, you will have to close and restart to use the new version. For a while the automatic updates seemed to be delayed for flash but it appears that they are coming more quickly these days.

Yes I believe it updates plugins (Flash and Widevine) on its own without a full browser update. It puts the updated plugin in your AppData folder provided your main install is in Program Files. It'll keep using this version till the browser updates and ships with the same or newer version.

They try and release Flash versions at the same time now. Chrome may get it slightly quicker than others since they have access to the source but they still likely coordinate with Adobe on it.

Adobe does release both versions of Flash at the same time. But in Windows 10 and IE11 the IE11 browser gets the flash update from Windows Updates .. you can not install it yourself on IE11 (it will not let you do it)
