Adobe Flash Player 11.7.700.169 Released!

I did the update this morning. It would be nicer if full installer download links for Active X (IE) and Plug-in browser (Firefox / Opera) were posted ... near impossible to locate at Adobe site and most people prefer the full installer.

Side note: Shockwave has an update out as well to Version: 12.0.0.122
 
Adobe Flash Player standalone versions, both for Internet Explorer (Active X) and all other browsers [note they use the Macromedia website to host the files!]:

● Flash Player Plug-in for ActiveX (Internet Explorer):

● Flash Player Plug-in (All other Browsers):

I believe these links are valid for every update released. Keep checking and compare whenever a new release is available at the official download page [http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/].

I updated it yesterday on my laptop. It installed Chrome and Google Toolbar w/o my permission - never saw anything saying it would do that nor did I see an option to uncheck. I uninstalled them immediately afterwards but wasn't happy about it

Here's how they slipped it by me - instead of having the option to uncheck during install (where most of us think to look), they put the uncheck option on the download page:

That complaint is from last year so they've been up to this trickery for at least several months now but this is the first time they beat me

I think you are getting flash and Java confused. Flash has had the checkbox on the download page for a long time now

I was going to warn about that. There is a tiny check box that is checked by default that installs Chrome and makes it your default browser. I got screwed by it several months ago, and had to do a lot of repair work to get my system and links back to normal. Because of that perfidy, I will never let Chrome anywhere near my machines.

Get the update, but be sure and uncheck that Google Chrome box! 🙂

No confusion - I know Java allows you to uncheck during install, and since Flash has been doing this for awhile I must have always caught it before download but this time apparently my guard wasn't up

Simply uninstalling Chrome and opening your other browser of choice and setting it to the default browser didn't do it?

You can just download the msi installers instead. They don't include all the "extras"... 🙂
 
Flash is a blight on the internet. It's no surprise it acts like malware, and surreptitiously installs other unwanted software. Nobody wants Chrome when they're looking for updates to the crapware on their system. Putting that link on the page is a dishonest way of trying to make some more money.

Sure, but it took a while to revisit several linked websites and change them back. Never said it could not be fixed- simply that it was a perfidious violation of trust. I assure you it has never happened again. Chrome is on my list of malware. 🙂
