Adobe After Effects Composition help

Ok, so everytime i try to make a new composition in Adobe After Effects, the composition in the preview window turns red. It should be black, but i cannot figure out how to make it black. And when i create a new solid, once i apply an effect to that solid, the backround turns the same color red.

Does anybody know why it is doing this??
