I have the old version, Reader 6 since updating it apperas to force me to install the worthless yahoo toolbar. But anyway, how long does it take reader to open for you guys? it seems like 15-30seconds for me with 100% cpu utilization which makes my sytstem grind to a halt the first time i open it. subsequent itmes, it's much faster but it's so bad the first time, i try to avoid .pdfs completely.

my pc is in sig as gaming rig and is recently diskeeper defragged and then boot defragged.

There was an option when you installed it to install the toolbar - you had to tell it no. There is an adobe speedup utility as well just google for adobe 'speed up' - you should find it.
