Adobe Acrobat Reader problems

When I try to open a .pdf file on the web, my computer always freezes, or it takes a really long time (more than a couple of minutes) for the document to open. The only way to get around this is to open Adobe first, and then open the .pdf doc.

Any ideas on how I can fix this?

AMD64 3000+
2gb ram

what version of reader is it?

It might help to go to Edit, Preferences, Internet, and uncheck the Display PDF in browser option
