adobe acrobat question

Just installed it. I can load web pages just fine, but when I try to open like a word document it gives me this error:

Start Transforming

Processing file
Acrobat distiller printer not defined
Transformation Failed
Process Failed

One other thing, when I installed I got this message saying something about "Distiller Printer (or something) couldn't be installed, please do so-and-so, etc.." I brushed it off as no big deal, but now I think it's a big deal. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

The distiller printer is what you use in "Word" to "print" (convert really) a document into a PDF. Check in your "printers" section - start-->settings-->printers and see if you have an adobe print distiller icon. You should.

I'm at home right now and don't have any of my help files nearby. If you haven't figured it out by tomorrow morning I can help you then when I get into work.

It sounds like you have distiller set as your default printer. When you try to open word, Distiller launches. Or you are opening distiller by mistake.

Unless you want to distill word docs into pdf's don't screw with distiller.

see if you have an adobe print distiller icon. You should.

I don't. The closest print icon I have is "Acrobat PDFwriter"

I think I'm missing Distiller completely.

Ok. I did a search and found Adobe Distiller 4.0

Loaded it, and now it's asking for job options and stuff. Is this what you guys are talking about?
