Admins, what is your stance on company logos in email signatures?

My company recently redesigned its logo and my boss insists that everyone have the logo included in their email signature.

Personally I find logos in the signature annoying (don't get me started on email stationary) and a waste of bandwidth and other network resources (more work for virus scanners, etc.)

What is everyones take on this?

Technology has No right to exist for itself, it is Not a living organism.

Technology is a tool (a wonderful tool and I love it) to Help us advance Mankind make our life better safer and longer.

If you Boss has an indication that it is good for business than why Not???

Otherwise, if he is wrong the technology G_d would punish him.😉

Most all memos/letterheads include the logo.

Why in the world would e-mail not do the same? That's just silly.

E-mail is to be considered the same as mail, just electronically. Would you send correspondence with it being on company letterhead? If so that's considered very unprofessional.

I understand the point about email being considered the same as regular mail.
I just think it gets annoying when for example you get an email conversation going with quoted replies and the same logo repeats 10 times.

Set up your email program to not include signatures in replies.

+1 for plain-text emails...i just see the attached jpeg up top.

+1 for company logos on the initial conversation
No logos once you start replying to an existing topic.

Oh wait, you didn't ask what I thought about network admins who'd complain about such a business requirement.

Most companies want the Logo to identify the document as being a corporate
communique which is to be treated with same care, dispersal and disposal
as any other privileged company information. It may also be at the request of
the corporate attorneys, for the same reasons. A lot of companies also include
a signature in the email, so the receiver can easily contact the person and in
some cases, also know what department they are from.

I personally hate all forms of HTML/RichText emails, but since I use mutt the inconvenience is low as long as the client is smart enough to send plain-text along with it.
