Should I be using the administrator account in Win2K or should I setup a normal account? I have been using my admin account the whole time and have it setup to my liking and don't feel like having to redo everything...I read today that my computer would run a little faster if I created a regular login. I know in linux you're supposed to, just wondering about Win2K

Nah, use the admin account. I mean Windows keeps you from doing something stupid like running a virus program, or deleting important system files, or hitting a website that has a god message embedded in it or evil activex when you are using ie. :)

Thats not very nice n0cmonkey... You shouldn't purposely give him bad advice. He may not know you are joking.

But you still purposely gave him bad advice... that was my point, not the fact that he may or may not deserve the advice at all. If you don't think he deserves the right advice, then don't give any.

This has nothing to do with it being a windows issue or not. I understand the smarter of us use an alternative OS whenever we can, but linux and whatnot is just not viable for everyone. I absolutely LOVE Mandrake, but I could not in good conscience recommend it to everyone. Could you imagine some not even close to computer literate person dropped into linux and asked to install Quake3? The only thing the would learn how to do is never touch the computer again. Not everyone wants to be on the same technical level that some of us try to achieve. They just want to play a game now and then and surf for pron or whatever. There really is no reason for us to look down on them and not help them once in awhile...:)

If this goes any farther I would like to take it to pm's so we no longer take the thread off course k? :)

I did not mean to make this a windows vs anything else issue. I was trying to make a joke. Obviously my tired mind cant quite get that done right now. Since windows is CONSIDERED more userfriendly, I was saying I would try to keep my posts as user friendly as possible. Anyhow, I will post a real response following this.

Dont use administrator or a user with administrator privs for day to day stuff because you might make a mistake. I know I have with non-MS oses. Its just easier to keep your system running if you dont have to worry about acccidentally running a virus that will delete everything (or something similar).

I have a life also. And yes, it is a life that does not involve computers :)
Anyhow, I thought I added enough sarcasm to my original post to make it clear, but I apologize for misleading you (if I did). And I am glad to be treated like your bitch. Thank you for this post.
