you don't need the password to format/install. Not sure what you mean by the "R command"...unless you mean repair

Hello nweaver thanks for reading my post.
I ment R for reapair console..I am new and i am not sure how to format disk and new install XP...In my other PC if i keep pressing 'R' when its booting it gives the option to format and partition the disk...I tried to boot from XP CD nothing happens it comes to Windows asking for log in password...when i go into BIOS it ask me for Admin passwrod....Can you please tell me how do i format the disk... what do i have to do. I will be greatfull.😕

reset the BIOS, by pulling the battery from the mobo and leave it out for a couple minutes.
reboot, go to bios, set boot order to boot from cd. put xp cd into cdrom, reboot.
xp install will start...follow instructions .... done

oh, and if you cant manage to get that working, then you can google for linux boot disk that will reset the admin passwd

Thanks Need4Speed i will try your advice I hope i will be able to do it.
If not i may ask your advice. But for sure i will let you know the rsult.
Thank you once again. 🙂

Try rebooting to safe mode and logging in with the administrator account (blank password by default). I use ERD Commander 2003 to reset forgotten passwords.
