Admin login settings

Hello All,

I recently had a hard drive failure and installed a new drive and loaded all my software's and programs on it etc.

When I installed windows I automatically was logged in as ADMIN.

I created a new user under my name with Admin access.

I then started installing all my programs (available to that user) etc and customizing everything.

I just restarted my computer and I am being brought to desktop and realized all of my customization were gone.

While I was doing the above installs etc. I was using the computer as ADMIN. And now the only option is to log in as me (but all my customizations are gone).

I guess what windows did was they removed the original ADMIN login option, once I created a user with admin access.

So, I want to log back in as the "ADMIN" user but it is not an option.

*Note I can still access the ADMIN files as my username is an admin but I really want all the customizations back, which took me a long time to do.

I am running XP 🙂

Thanks for all your help.

ADMIN is not the same as Administrator, so a normal version of XP would not just remove an account this way. What "customizations"? Your shortcuts would be in the desktop folder for the Administrator (or ADMIN) account, but other "customizations" would not carry over. Have you looked in User Accounts in the Control Panel to see if the Account is indeed gone? It may just be as simple as adding it back if the Administrator account (or ADMIN account, if that's what you named it) is still listed in Documents and Settings.
