adls internet connection sharing speed issue

Hello

Just got my adsl net connection going. Am sharing my connection with my sons pc- located about 20 meters of lan cable away. The cable is cat 5 and I do not use a hub--have a reverse cable directly connected from my lan card to his. 10 mb connection.

The problem is that his download times are 10 times slower than mine and I dont know why.

Anyone have any ideas--could it be the cable length and quality?
