I would like to run ATI Catalyst Control Center for the powerplay option where I can control the power of my video card. I have an ATI x1400. Is there a Catalyst Control Center for this OS or any alternative? My battery life is horrible without the management.
You can try going to control panel. Then find the power options. You might have to change the view from Category to list it as small/large icons. In power options, pick your power plan and click change plan settings. Then click change advanced power settings. In there somewhere it might let you change the power options of the video card. Or you might have to have the drivers installed from ATI in order to have the option.
Option B
I think ATI released a Catalyst 9.3 mobility for Windows 7, but I can't find it on their website. You can try and find it on google or try the following use the regular non-mobility drivers:
You can download and use the newest drivers from the ATI website. You have to use mobility modder to allow the drivers to install. Normally, ATI tells you to download the latest drivers from the laptop manufacture's site, and usually they only have one old release from when the laptop first came out. Mobility modder allows you to install the newest drivers from the ATI website. Also note I think the newest Catalyst 9.5 release no longer supports anything under the HD 2000 series graphics cards... so you might want to check which version you need to install. I have not tried mobility modder on Windows 7, but I used it on Vista.
It seems like Catalyst 9.3 was the last to have support for the x1000 series graphics cards. I don't know if AMD/ATI has old driver versions on their website. You might have to google a link.
