Adjusting DVD-ROM playback visual settings

I want to play with the brightness and color of the playback on my computer's DVD ROM playback, but none of the software like WinDVD or Windows Media Player 9 seem to have this ability. I don't want to adjust the monitor physically, and the NVidia Control Panel that internally adjust these settings overall for the entire rig don't carry over to the players regardless of what I set them to. Any help?

There should be separate settings for "video" or "overlay" or something along those lines. Those settings will change how video playback looks.
