Adjust the clamp on an FOP38?

I got my FOP38 in the mail today but I haven't put it on my Duron yet.. I noticed, though, that the clamp will be ultra tight and possibly crush the core if I'm not careful. Is it a good idea to take the fan off and bend the clamp just a bit?

i have a duron 700 and the FOP38 fan and it works fine. You don't need to worry about crushing the cpu it works alright for me.

You may want to take the metal grill of the fan though cos it can make a whining noise.

i have a FOP-38 and a P!!! 550E, i got it on just fine too, it seems scary, but just keep the weight balanced and it will be fine...

I put on FOPs all day at work, Just make sure you dont try to pull the clamp down with your finger, it will be numb for a month (serious, i couldnt feel my finger tip for a month!). Needle nose works awesome.
