Hello. I just recently bought the HD 2900XT for my computer, but I'm wondering if my power supply can handle the load before I hook it up.

Here's my current setup:

Abit KN8 SLI nforce4 socket 939 mobo
Opteron 185 (2.6ghz) processor
Sapphire X1800XT 512MB
G.SKILL 4GB (4x1GB) DDR400 ram
Soundblaster Live 24-bit
BenQ DVD burner
Western Digital Caviar 250GB SATA hdd
Western Digital Caviar 320GB SATA hdd
Rosewill RP550S-2MK 550W modular PSU
(+ about 2 80mm cooling fans and the fan on the cpu heatsink and a slot cooling fan)

Since Newegg doesnt carry the PSU anymore, I had to sift around for the specs (I dont know a lot of the technical stuff about PSUs). Apparantly this is the amperage:
+3.3V@30A, +5V@50A, +12V1@18A, +12V2@18A, -12V@1A, +5VSB@2.5A

I forgot that PSU didnt have two PCI-e connections, so I ordered a molex-to-6pin pci-e adapter from newegg that will be here wednesday.

While the minimum requirement for the 2900XT is a 550W power supply, some people have said that Rosewill power supplys aren't that great.

Will I be okay with what I have, or should I upgrade? And if so, what should I upgrade to on a budget of ~$120. I prefer modular, but I'm not picky since I want to just use this card.

Thanks a bunch.

Rosewill PSU + 2900XT ----- NEVER

Buy some good 500W PSU form Seasonic, Corsair or Enermax - theyare much higher quality :D

You are definitely riding close to the edge. If the power in your area is good and clean, you might get away with it. I think I would upgrade to a PSU of higher quality - you will be on the safe side, and you will save on the power bill.
