I have a new build and a question on PSUs & their wattage. Approximately how much wattage would be sufficient, I'm not planning on running SLI for a long while. I also realized different types like ATX12x & ATX ver. x.xx

Specs:

2GB RAM
MB --> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813123005
CPU --> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103759
Video Card --> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150189
80GB HDD
2x 80mm & 2x 120mm fans
2 CD Drives
Sound Card + PCI Slot Fan Card Cooler

Two PSU's that I took note on are:

430W --> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817153023
500W --> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817153028

According to Operandi, 90% of the PC's on this forum don't need a 500W PSU. NOw ain't that a bitch?

I would go with the 500W PSU too.

Futureproofing, yo. Better safe than sorry.

Besides, it's always the more powerful, expensive power supplies that supply adequate amps on the 12V rail to power-hungry graphics cards.

why thermaltake?
Because it's one of the best brands for PSU.

I would go for the 500W PSU. No need for more at this time.
The only Thermaltake PSUs that are good for gaming systems are their Toughpower PSUs. All their other PSUs are far from the best in their price range and power rating. If you want cheap, but good, go with an XClio 500W or Antec SP2.0 500W (modular). Both of those PSUs are supplied by CWT, and are better than any non-toughpower thermaltake. If you have the budget for it, the Corsair 520W would be the best price/performance PSU right now. OCZ GXS PSUs have problems with ripple. Check out jonnyguru.com and the psu subforum at hardforums.
