I just moved into a "luxury" apartment in manhattan and, to my annoyance, realized that the floor in the bedroom is a bit crooked. It's one of those things that's impossible to notice when you're doing a walkthrough of the apartment but it's easily noticeable with some furniture in the area. Regardless, I have a desk in that corner that's clearly at an angle (and now so is my computer monitor) and I was wondering if anyone had clean shim/wedging solutions for the desk that would blend in really well. I'd really like to avoid using DIY solutions such as plywood or cardboard since this is otherwise a really nice apartment and those things would stick out like a sore thumb.

If it somehow helps decide on a clean solution, the floor is a very dark brown wood (chocolate color) and the desk is one of these dealies http://www.crateandbarrel.com/pilsen-48-desk/s575286.

Know anyone with a table saw? Rip a piece of hardwood, the length of the desk base, going from 0" to whatever you need for the shem height. Stain it and affix to the desk base. No one will see it.

Instead of putting a shim under the leg that's too short, just cut a bit off of the leg that's too long. That way your desk will be level AND blend in nicely to your crooked-floored luxury apartment.

My room's like that. House is just about a century old. Short of adding new flooring (e.g. laminate or hardwood with a foam layer underneath).

I just use cardboard. Works well, costs nothing. Otherwise, buying some of those felt circle stickers that you put under table and chair legs could work. Stack a bunch until it disappears.

Or buy some screws and attach a piece of metal/rubber under them. Screw them into the legs to make your own adjustable-height legs.

Actually, the $200 desk is what's gonna "stick out like a sore thumb" in your "luxury" apartment.

Use a matchbook under the low side.
