Before I installed Win2k, I got this error a lot of times, but in win2k I didn't get it. Until yesterday...

Can anyone help me on this?

Means somebody else on your network is using your IP address.
What kind of network are you on?
Do you have a static or dynamic IP?

Static IPs: Contact your sysadmin with that information...they should have the tools to take care of it.
Dynamic IPs: Take a shot at grabbing a new IP (turn computer off for a bit, then reboot; in win98, use winipcfg to release/renew IP; in win2k, use ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew in a dos window; reset cable/dsl modem...)

I've a cable modem with a static IP address (d'oh).

I've a small LAN (two PCs, one server (the one with the problem) and one client (win98)) and cable internet.

Thanks for your help so far!
