Addonics announces USB 2.0 product family

"...Addonics Technologies today announced a high-speed USB 2.0 interface cable that attaches to all Addonics External CD, DVD, DVD/CDRW and hard drive kits to deliver up to 40 times faster data transfer rates over current USB 1.1 standard storage devices.

Addonics products that will ship with the new USB 2.0 cable include the Addonics 16X Mobile CDRW, 12X Mobile DVD/CDRW combo drive, and Pocket ExDrive hard drive. The new USB 2.0 standard increases the USB data transfer rate of 12 Mbits/sec (1.5 MBytes/sec) up to 480Mbits/sec (or 60MBytes /sec).

Customers with existing Addonics external storage devices can upgrade to USB 2.0 by purchasing an Addonics USB 2.0 cable for $29 before the end of August. The cable will have a list price of $59. Because many notebook and desktop PCs do not have a USB 2.0 port, Addonics will offer a USB 2.0 PCI add on card for desktop PCs, and a PCMCIA USB 2.0 adapter for notebook PCs to allow users to upgrade their systems to take advantage of USB 2.0's high throughput. The PCI card has a list price of $59. The PCMCIA adapter will be list priced at $99..."
